“I took my first picture when I was six years old with my Dad’s Olympus OM-10, and I’ve been trying to take a picture as good as that ever since. I bought a beat up old Russian 35mm SLR for £15 from the local camera shop during school, and spent all my pocket money exposing roll after roll of film, waiting for it to come back from the lab and then trying to work out what my camera was doing by looking at the prints. I learnt to develop and print black & white film at college and still have a box full of chemicals under the sink for when the mood takes me. Everything else I know comes from reading books, talking to other photographers and taking lots and lots and lots of pictures.
Creating images for me is about telling stories by combining technical ability with creative ideas and then it’s just a case of releasing the shutter at the right time. I started my photography business in 2003 and have shot everyone from brides and grooms to cross-dressing dancers to CEOs to seventy-year old body builders.
3B Media gives me the opportunity to share the skills and ideas that I’ve accumulated over my life and hopefully inspire other photographers to create the images they never thought they could. Working with Phil and Barnaby also allows me to work on projects that wouldn’t be possible on my own and I’m a big advocate of creative collaboration; I believe your inspiration can come from anyone and anywhere.
When I don’t have a camera in my hands you’ll normally find me behind my piano playing some mean rock and roll or hanging out with my girlfriend watching movies. I drink too much tea and eat too much cake.
You can see my own professional work at the sites below and if you want to get in touch then feel free.”
