Phil by Phil

“So what do you want to know? Photography has been part of me pretty much forever. It started with watching slideshows my grandfather used to show us on a Sunday afternoon of his trips to Singapore and the Far East. I showed a lot of interest and so was given my very first camera -a very basic unbranded film camera.  It taught me the fundamentals of exposure which I still use today. At secondary school I was given an Olympus OM10 (with the manual adapter!) and over lots of lunch breaks in the school darkroom I was truly bitten by the photography bug. There’s something magical about watching an image emerge from nowhere.

When I left university I joined the corporate  world and photography took a back seat until I met my wife Lou who inspired me to take it up again. That was back in 2000. Two years later I quit the rat race and started Phil Barber Photography which has developed into Barber Photography, concentrating mainly on wedding & portrait photography. Also in this time we have raised two amazing kids who keep our feet firmly on the ground – they’re my real motivation for doing what I do.

Recently I have managed to fuse my passion for photography with my other passion of music and have been involved with some great creative artists over the last 18 months. This has inspired me to create 3B Media with Rob & Barns to further my desire for collaborations with great artists but also to be able to share the knowledge that I have gathered since my first camera some 30 years ago.

Take a look at my personal sites below and if you have any projects or ideas that you want me & the 3B team to get involved with then get in touch.”
